Michael & Mabel Akotia are based at City of Grace Church in Ho, Ghana. Michael oversees the work of ChristCentral in West Africa and is also part of the ChristCentral apostolic team. Michael and his team oversee 11 churches in Ghana and 10 churches in Benin. They are also exploring links with churches in other nations.
City of Grace is a critical base for our work in the region of West Africa, they host a ChristCentral School of Leadership training course, training new leaders to send out into the nation of Ghana and the surrounding countries of Western Africa.
Michael and his team have also been working with Compassion for a number of years, creating strong links with the Compassion national team, as they seek to bring relief to children who are living in poverty in their region.
Through the generosity of churches like ours City of Grace has been able to complete the work on an office and accommodation to house the project in Ho.
Local churches are often best suited to address the needs of those who are poor in their locality and this Child Development Centre now supports children who are currently aged between 3-6 years. It helps them go to school as well as support them in their health and other physical needs.
The church can now also effectively deliver Jesus-based teaching and whole-life care that children in poverty deserve. Bringing the safety and security all children need.
Though much has been achieved there are still many children who need sponsorship. Sponsoring a child for just £32 a month will bring a lasting change to vulnerable children in poverty. It will protect from threats like gangs, trafficking and child marriage. Sponsorship gives the child access to essential medical care and provides gospel-centred education and support to stay in school longer.
